Duomo di Modena – Modena Cathedral
The Modena Cathedral is a primary example of Romanesque architecture and has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997. Designed by the architect Lanfranco and enriched by the sculptures of Wiligelmo, the building is considered a milestone of medieval European art. Its white marble façade features intricate stone reliefs that bring biblical narratives to life, representing a rare and preserved collaboration between two medieval masters.

Piazza Grande – Cathedral square
Directly adjacent, Piazza Grande has served as the city’s civic and social hub for centuries. Founded in the 12th century, the square took on the appellation “Grande” from the second half of the 17th century and has always been the place from which the political power of the citizens’ representatives, as well as religious power, is managed. Framed by the Town Hall and the soaring Torre Ghirlandina, this space forms a unified architectural complex that continues to define Modena’s urban identity.
